Mobile phone forensics is the structured retrieval of data from mobile phones, and other digital devices, in a manner that preserves the data under forensically acceptable conditions; ensuring that any evidence is admissible in any court or other hearing.

Mobile phone forensics is often used by companies when executives or employees are suspected of using their phone as part of an `white collar crime’ such as internal fraud, illicitly contacting competitors or suppliers, leaking company Intellectual Property; or else inappropriately used to view and/or download pornography, or defying restricted Internet usage company policies.
